WMSummer Magazine - Hotel and Spa Hot Spot
Summer 2006

What's it all about?
Laid-back luxury and natural beauty.
Interior?
Delectable. The 21 en-suite bedrooms are simple and sophisticated with white linen and bleached Portuguese wood for a modern seaside feel. Several rooms have terraces, so you can enjoy the sea air - be it balmy or bracing. Think deep baths, deluge showers and enormous white towelling robes.
Exterior?
Surrounded by rugged cliffs scalloped by charming coves next to a 'cream tea village', it's the perfect base for exploring the Cornish coast. Nearby Mevagissey is a quaint colourful seaside town, and there are castles and gardens galore in easy distance.
Food?
Exquisite. The restaurant overlooks the tiny harbour and specialises in locally caught fresh seafood. Dinner is an elegant love affair - quenelles of crab to start anyone? Four succulent courses set you back a respectable £33, and the wine list's not bad either. The melt-in-the-mouth desserts are unmissable.
Special touches?
It's family-run with a very friendly and graceful attitude. Breakfast in bed if you fancy. And don't miss the croissants which are baked on site, they're wonderful.
Seboni Spa?
A lot of thought has gone into these beautiful products and wonderful treatments. Visitors enjoy the products in the bathroom, and you can also buy them to take home. There are four ranges to choose from, including handmade soups. Everything smells beautiful and comes in stylish packaging.
Review?
I tested one of the signature wraps - Cornish Calm. This relaxing and emotionally soothing treatment incorporates full body brush and massage with selected oils, followed by a kaolin mask which works at a deep level when covered by a heated wrap. Talking to the lovely therapist was a treatment in itself. The wrap stayed on for 20 minutes. Afterwards my skin was plump and bursting with moisture, and my shoulder tension had disappeared. Prices start from £60.
Vibe?
Effortless contemporary style against the backdrop of a beautiful simple Cornish village.
Best for?
Couples wanting a special treat who like sophistication and sea air.
Verdict?
We wanted to stay there forever.
Price?
From £90 per person per night for bed and breakfast, to £140 per person per night, including dinner, for a terrace room.
